    • Did It Happen Or Did It Not? April 3, 2010
It’s been what, three weeks since Rep Emanuel Cleaver claimed he was spit on? And now he won’t talk about it? I know if some guy spit on me, I’d kick his ass! I understand that a politician might choose a different option, but he sure as hell would want that guy punished and not […]
    • “Right Wing Domestic Terrorism” Assumptions April 2, 2010
So much for the Leftist assumptions and chants of “right wing domestic terrorism” playing a role in the nine Hutaree terrorists. They blast that if a person is a Christian, then they must be a right winger. I find the exact opposite to be true out here, where the Catholics and Christians are usually on […]
    • Phil Hare (D-IL) Is A Sad Fool April 2, 2010
How a member of Congress can disregard the US Constitution, which they swore to uphold and protect, is frightening. Of course, you won’t see this in the MSM, because they are still salivating over Catholic priests raping young boys. How sad that he thought life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness was in the US […]

Such words echo the comments section of CNN’s article on yesterday’s Tea Party in Senator Harry Reid’s hometown. And we’re being told the Left is so tolerant of others? Give me a F*cking break. SocratesNJ Interesting that the Tea-Baggers have the time and money to go to Nevada. I figure that they’re either collecting socialistic […]
    • Thoughts On Mesa, Arizona March 28, 2010
I just got back from a week long trip in Mesa, Arizona. Some comments: The flight from Chicago to Mesa was about 3.5 hours. Not bad, and no headaches this time! Last time I was on an airplane was three years ago. The flight was Chicago to Orlando-about 2 hours, but I got a terrible […]
    • Global Warming Causes…Violence? WTF? March 27, 2010
As if the Man-Made Global Warming (aka ManBearPig) movement wasn’t crazy enough, it just got a little crazier. Global warming could make the world a more violent place, because higher temperatures increase human aggression and create volatile situations, a new study says. The report combined government data about average yearly temperatures with statistics o […]
    • Comforting The Pro-Choice Side March 26, 2010
NPR decided to provide more comfort to the Pro-Choice side of the Abortion debate. Here’s the memo that was just distributed to all NPR staff: “NPR News is revising the terms we use to describe people and groups involved in the abortion debate. This updated policy is aimed at ensuring the words we speak and […]

Strange Days

Posted by Anthony on March 15, 2010

The title of this post was to be the title of this blog. Alas, some wanderer on the Internet beat me to it. No worries, as I like All Along the Watchtower as a title.

Written in 1966 and recorded the following year, Bob Dylan penned fantastic lyrics that can be applied to today’s scenarios in US Politics. No offense to Bob Dylan, but the original sucked. It was Jimi Hendrix’s version that would totally kick ass.

Amazing, isn’t it? Forty years later and it still packs a punch.

“There must be some kinda way out of here”
Said the joker to the thief
“There’s too much confusion
I can’t get no relief”

“Businessmen, they, they drink my wine
Plowmen dig my earth
None will level on the line
Nobody of it is worth”, hey

“No reason to get excited”
The thief, he kindly spoke
“There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke”

“But you and I, we’ve been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
The hour is getting late”, hey

All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view

While all the women came and went
Barefoot servants too

Outside in the cold distance
A wildcat did growl
Two riders were approaching
And the wind began to howl, hey

All along the watchtower
All along the watchtower…

While there are many interpretations of what Bob Dylan meant by his words, I have my own argument on the words.

Take the second line of the song;

said the joker to the thief

Politics, as everyone with a brain knows, is 100% corrupt. Candidates go in clean, get tainted, and come out dirtier than Pigpen on his best day.

Why is that? Lobbyists. They are the scum of the earth, and they get around easily. I live in a country where rich scum are allowed to, basically, buy votes. Morality is laughed at in Washington, DC. Common sense is unheard of.

The Jokers of Congress are the Republicans. They parade around small government, but won’t stick to the principle. Rather, they will allow the Defense budget to balloon out of control. Their interventionist foreign policy has cost the world millions of lives and trillions of dollars. To take them seriously is a big mistake. They are the worst kind of politicians…

…with the except of the Democrats, those Thieves. The Democratic Party is the party of big brother, big government, high taxes, and waste, waste, and more waste. Sure, there are some good Democrats (and Republicans). But even the good ones go nuts sometimes (two examples-Kucinich and Grayson).

This great country, the United States of America, is headed for strange days. Stand up and demand your country back, but be intelligent about it. This blog shall follow that idea, from here to eternity.

You are right about that Anthony…strange days are a comin’. Love the references to Bob Dylan. It appears to me that at this point of the game, whether Reps or Dems are in charge, it’s just two different heads on the same monster. We need some real change in order to get things back on track.

Indeed! The sad part is, all the potentially good politicians are unknown grass roots candidates. Look at Peter Schiff! Has a level head, nothing crooked, and yet he’s failing in the primary polls…

Fantastic song. Still on my primary iTunes playlist. You’re right about their being no comparison between Dylan and Hendrix. Jimi blew him away.

    And yes, lobbyists stink.
